Friday Feast #170

Appetizer
What is your favorite carnival/amusement park ride?
I'm going to have to say The Merry Go Round cause it's the first thing that came to mind...

Soup
How do you react in uncomfortable social situations?
Hmm... that would really depend on what the situation is. I'd probably laugh sheepishly and try to get away from there unnoticeable and ASAP, though :P

Salad
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy discussing deep, philosophical topics?
I'd say about 6. Except that deep, philosophical topics usually end up being humorous once you bring them up with me. Hahaha. And then of course there were those times when I'd make some philosophy up from the most ridiculous things. But that's another story :))

Main Course
Did you get a flu shot this year? If not, do you plan to?
No, and no. In fact, I didn't even know there's a flu shot available. Hmmm...

Dessert
Approximately how many hours per week do you spend watching television?

Umm, depending on how busy I am during the week, I'd say about 14... but that's only because mom always has the TV on at night so I would watch while doing other things too :)

stuff

First, I just noticed I had Amy twice on my TT list yesterday. Oops... :(

Second, see my WW post below? I thought I had to make clear that THAT is a real baby. And that was her actual 'pose'. I did not manipulate the photo at all. I just pasted the Cabbage Patch Kid next to her. I'm still amazed to this moment at how similar they look like. Hahaha :))

Third, speaking of babies... if you have a facebook account, you might know that they have this application called make a baby. Well, I randomly invited friends to mate, and this morning I received a surprise in the form of the most angry little baby I ever saw on facebook:

I sure hope she'd look better after a few pokes! :D

Biblical Joy

Look at what mom got me for Christmas!!

That's a Parallel Bible in Indonesian and NIV (My first parallel bible ever!), as well as an Indonesian version of the Rainbow Study Bible. Oh, and of course I'm aware that Christmas is still about 28 (?) days to go, but mom went to the distribution office of the Indonesian Bible Society and bought these, as well as a bunch of other stuff including a 9-volume-set of the handwritten bible (we actually wrote part of it YEARS ago... I can't remember which part, though). So yeah, what an awesome early Christmas present.

Also, my order from ChristianBooks.Com has arrived safely in the hands of my cousin, who'll be here on Dec 15. So that's two more bibles to look forward to!

Speaking of bibles, I also sent off the registration form for a Master's degree in Biblical Studies today. If all goes well, I should be starting that course around April next year. Meanwhile, I'm indulging myself in the reading of the many bibles I now own :)

Picture Personality

Somewhat similar to VisualDNA, I reckon... but fun anyways... now if only I can find my visualDNA results to compare...

Temperament
Flexible
Nothing seems to bother you - you sail through life crisis free. It's not that your life doesn't have its ups and downs, it's just that you handle everything without unnecessary drama and antics. You approach each day fresh, not worrying about yesterday or tomorrow. You are confident that you can handle anything that comes your way and experience has shown that you are absolutely right about this.
Interests
Simple
You are continually pursuing a simpler and less complicated life - you don't allow yourself to fall victim to all of the "should do's" that society continually bombards you with. You are thoughtful about your life choices and think in terms of yourself, others and the world in which we live. You have a great sense that we are part of something much bigger and we must be good to others, if we want others and the world to be good to us.
Amusement
Thoughtful
You are easily stressed out and overwhelmed - you need to take care of yourself first and foremost. Because you tend to be self reflective, you know your limits quite well and must remember to not exceed those limits. When you overwhelm your life with obligations and responsibilities, you tend to shut down and go into yourself even further. Take some time to find your serenity and kick back your feet.
Passion
Physical
You are a cuddle bug - from a warm hug shared with your best friend to steamy sex with your partner, you enjoy every bit of human contact that you can get. You demonstrate your love for others most fluidly through physical one-on-one contact and you feel the most loved when you are being touched. You feel disconnected when you are physically isolated from others. You're a people person and a lover of all things human.

Thursday Thirteen - 10th edition

Yeps. I've made my decision. Here's my Weight Loss Plan (WLP) in 13 Steps! Hahaha :D

  1. I need to lose about 10 kgs until the end of this year.

  2. So that's 5kgs each month. *fingers crossed*

  3. Otherwise, mom will FORCE me to go to the nutritionist/doctor who just so happens to be my ex-crush's Dad (which I would like to avoid, thank you very much!)

  4. So... I will be swimming every other day...

  5. and doing Yoga or some other form of exercise in between.

  6. For each 2.5kgs I lose and retain, I will reward myself something special.

  7. Which is not a food item, and will be no more than 50,000 rupiah in value.

  8. I shall limit my consumption of chocolate... to one piece a day!

  9. Also, I will drink a lot of water.

  10. and ban sugary drinks (this will also fulfill a point on my 101 things to do list)...

  11. except for my daily intake of Vitamin C, and perhaps some juices.

  12. I will only eat ice cream once a week (unless somebody offers me some ice cream, which I shall not refuse).

  13. And of course, no vigorous snacking :D

busy weekend!

On Saturday, I had to wake up early in the morning because I had to go to my (old) university to judge at an English Story Telling competition. It was a great experience and I loved every single minute I spent there, even if I got tired of listening to 'Little Red Riding Hood' and 'Cinderella'. This has sparked my interest in being an English teacher, and am now pursuing some information from my former English lecturer about it.

Sunday, I had to go to church early morning as usual, followed by teaching Sunday School, and then immediately there was a choir practice which lasted about 3 and half hours... and once I got home, I had to prepare myself because a friend of mine was getting married. The party was so crowded that it was hard to get some food. My friend was very pretty and very happy even if she seemed to treat the event like it's a game (at least to my eyes). Am happy for her, though... and praying for a great life ahead of her. As for me, I had a great time hanging out with all the people I knew who were there (a lot of them, actually!)

Monday, my boss attacked me with stuff to do... which wasn't that much eventually, and I spent the rest of the day working on the layout of the Sunday School Devotion Book I had to finish.

Today... I'm very sleepy and tired and bored and am seriously thinking about my job. I am trying to enjoy my job, but I haven't succeeded yet. And deep down inside... the English Teacher option seems a good one. Otherwise I'm also thinking about becoming a writer, or a designer. Anything that is part-time and allows me to work at my own pace. And that I enjoy. And where there's no boss telling me things which just confuse me. Oh, and of course there's still another thing I would like to pursue... BIBLE STUDY! Yes, I am actually thinking of taking a Master's Degree course in this. Or any other Theological programs, for the matter. Hmmm... dreams, dreams, dreams and plans, plans, plans...

Friday Feast #169

Appetizer
What was your first “real” job?
Hmm... what does "real" mean? My first internship was unpaid, but it was the time I first 'tasted' a job. And to the guests at the hotel, there was no sign that I was a trainee at all. So in that sense, my first job would be a butler at a luxury boutique hotel in the Rosewood group.
On the other hand, I first got paid while doing my 2nd internship. That would be as a waitress at a Conrad hotel.
Or... if you're talking after school has finished, that would be my current job. A manager at a fine art gallery.

Soup
Where would you go if you wanted to spark your creativity?
To sleep :P
Or swimming in my backyard pool. I find the water very calming and thus inspiring. The bad thing is... I wouldn't be able to write down any ideas as quickly.

Salad
Complete this sentence: I am embarrassed when…
My mom talks about me having to lose weight with (not so much) a stranger. Like she did last night with this doctor who has helped some of our church members lose weight who just happens to be the father of my first crush ever! How's that for embarrassment??

Main Course
What values did your parents instill in you?
Err... that I need to lose weight while I'm still young before it's too late and I get very, very sick? Hahah. I'm seriously annoyed by this notion, you see... but anyways, mom thought me awesome values that made me the person I am today. So yeah.

Dessert

Name 3 fads from your teenage years.

Oh. Wow. I don't remember any. Seriously. Sorry... :(

anticipation is the greatest pleasure

What is that, you ask? That is the bunch of this that will officially be mine in... hmm... 4 hours!! Hahaha. Yeps. B'day presents. Aren't they lovely?

Of course I seriously mean I have 8 boxes of b'day presents and a bunch of other stuff like balloons and candies and a princess tiara. And yes, those numbers on the left corner is how old I will be. Tee hee... I'm childish, I know. And I like it that way.

Those presents are the ones I bought for myself with the help of mom's b'day money. We made it this kind of tradition for me to get a specific amount of money each year (the exact amount depending on mom's discretion) to buy stuff for my b'day. I would usually chip in with my savings or just at random sometimes, to result in the delightful thing called my b'day present(S) :D

Another one of my b'day traditions is to have goodie bags and lots of candies for my friends. This started in high school. My 17th b'day, I think, when I thought "Wouldn't it be cool to celebrate in a very childish way??" - I bought candies and chocolates and small presents and threw all of them in a large box, opened the box during lunch break and let everyone dig in!

The next year, I prepared small bags filled with snacks, so it was just like when we were in elementary school. My freshman year I put a (HUGE) glass jar filled with candies at the student lounge. The whole university celebrated my b'day. Hahah. The candy thing was so unique to me that most people said they're going to miss my b'day candies after I graduated. Well, my closest pals need to fret not coz I have a surprise in store for them tomorrow!

Oh yes, I do plan each and every one of my b'days with precision to ensure that I get what I want. Of course I kinda feel like getting a surprise b'day party thrown or something, but the fear of people forgetting my b'day is too big I just HAVE to prepare everything. The downside? I will never be surprised during special days (this includes also my farewell during my internship in S'pore). Except, well, last year, for example, my classmates did surprise me with a happy b'day song and a lovely teddy bear. So yeah, I'll delight in that.

The thing about b'days is: at this particular moment (3 hours and 45 minutes to my b'day) I don't really feel very much. I'm numb. Just like it's every other day (except of course I'm blogging about my anticipation, so it is something special). But when I go to sleep later, and wake up... there's always this funny fuzzy feeling. Oh yes... I love that feeling. I can't help but wonder if anyone else out there might feel the same way too? Hmm...

Well, better take my shower and get to sleep now... the sooner my b'day comes, the better. Right? Right :)

Friday Feast #168

Appetizer
Which snack do you like to get when you go to the movies?
Popcorn. And I love it in Singapore cause you can opt to have sweet and salty ones in one box. Here it's just plain salty ones.

Soup
What year did you start using the internet?

Umm... 1998, I think? Probably earlier.

Salad
What is your first name in Pig Latin?
Err... I'm lost... Help, anyone?

Main Course
Name something you are picky about.
Teddy Bears! Hahaha. Actually, I love all teddies, but I get picky when I have to choose which one to buy from the shelf.

Dessert
Fill in the blanks: I ____ ____ yesterday and I ____ ____ today.
I was sleepy yesterday and I am sleepy today. Seriously.

Thursday Thirteen - 8th edition

I am so not going to let anything keep me from TT-ing this week. In fact, I'm up to posting a double edition to make up for last week :D

Thirteen Things That Happened on My Trip to Singapore

  1. Our flight was delayed

And only because of 4 people who just happened to arrive late because they were busy carrying some traditional cakes... thankfully, they realized that the plane was late because of them. As Singaporean say, they were very pay see (meaning: ashamed).

  2. I got acquainted with Ms. Kartika Affandi

Who is the daughter of the painter Affandi, and also her children. Of course, it only comes natural as my uncle (aka Boss) was hosting her for the book launch. I did find it very unfair that she got all the attention during our event there seeing that she only decided to come after receiving payment from my uncle. But what can I say... the perks of being someone famous' daughter, right?

  3. I learned to 'take care of things'

Like handling the check in and all the payments, also doing things I never did before like actually perusing the Business Centre at the hotel. During this particular stay, I think it is the first time we really 'utilized' the hotel staff by having so many requests. Hahah.

  4. We stayed at a very special room

Not because it was located at the Club Floor and thus we got L'Occitanne amenities, but rather because of the room number. It was room 1113. And that would be my birth date. Cool, right? I had to take a pic.

  5. I strained my ankles (yes, both of them)

I fell down on the pedestrian walkway on my way back to the hotel after a teddy bear shopping spree. It was so embarrassing (thankfully not many people were there to see it happen). And sadly it still hurts a bit until now :(

  6. I had to do a speech in front of a whole bunch of important people!

The story was, one of our writers, Prof.-Dr. Astri Wright, was unable to come to the book launch, but she sent her greetings via e-mail and I got to read it. What was really fun is, as she saluted a bunch of people in the speech, I decided to lead everyone in clapping as I read each paragraph. So I was leading all these VIPs in clapping! Hahaha. I had a good time.

  7. I got to play camerawoman too!

and take care of the lighting for the special launching event. Lots of fun. Nuff said.

  8. Of course, I got a bunch of teddies

About 20 pcs, I reckon. Most of them are Ty's, but I also got this whole series of tin toys teddies. And a very special lil fellow who is a limited edition number 3/750 from this German company (I forgot the name). As I mentioned earlier, most of them are still tucked away for my birthday present, so pics later.

  9. Also, we bought a S$1,800 violin

Thanks to the man selling who said the violin costs 'thousand eight' which we assumed was S$1,008 instead of S$1,800. Hah. My brother got very lucky of course to receive that present on top of his Givi which we had bought earlier. Anyways, I started taking violin lessons so in the future I might be using that violin too!

  10. I did NOT get to meet most of my friends

They bailed out on me last minute. Pretty sad. I managed to drop by the restaurant we used to work at though and say hi to some people (not many are left there who I know, anyways). I didn't even manage to contact the guy I used to have a huge crush on. Not that he really mattered that much.

  11. I got to speak Singlish, obviously

Yes, that actually made me somewhat happy. Again, lots of fun.

  12. I took the MRT to the airport

I love the MRT. If only they have something like this here in Jakarta.

  13. My aunt decided to give me all the leftover cash

That amounted to about S$150, and with the tax return we received, I managed to buy several teddies, a magazine and also this book I've always wanted to buy. I even brought some cash back home which is now allocated for my birthday lunch with my friends.

And speaking of my birthday... (this coming TUESDAY!!)

Thirteen Things I'd LOVE to Receive on My Birthday but Probably Won't (Unless YOU Would Like to Buy it for Me) - from amazon.com
  1. TNIV True Identity Bible

I'm reading the teen True Images version and at 23 I think I should read this version now, you think?

  2. A Lifetime of Secrets: A PostSecret Book

When will this book be available here??

  3. Revolve 2008

    Just because.

  4. Maple the Ty Bear

    and also...

  5. Magee the Ty Bear

and a whole bunch of other Ty bears, too... or any other teddy bears, for the matter.

  6. Famous Bears and Friends

just found it randomly and seems pretty interesting.

  7. Pointe Shoes

What can I say... it's a childhood dream of mine!

  8. Canon Photo Printer

    Could definitely come in handy.

  9. That Thing You Do! DVD

I want this. I want this. I WANT THIS! It's even on my 101 Things To Do list.

  10. Godiva Chocolates

  11. The Story of Art

Saw this at the bookstore yesterday and it seems quite interesting.

  12. Messengers of Faith

Definitely a cool something to take to the Sunday School class.

  13. Amazon Gift Certificate

Who knows what else I might find? :P

The truth is I've never bought anything off Amazon before thanks to the shipment cost which is way too expensive :(

Happy TT, everyone!

Dona Nobis Pacem

I can't believe I forgot to post on Blogblast for Peace. I'm backdating this post, of course.

What happened, you might ask?

I supposed I've been busy. My mind's been preoccupied. And on November 7th, 2007, all I remembered was that it's my friend's birthday and that I'm meeting up with my university pals for lunch.

So anyways, today... I vow to live in peace with myself and with the world (even though that would include my co-worker I'm having such a hard time being at peace with)... because it really does depend on each of ourselves, no?

Oldies Goodies

So in the hope of finding a layout code suitable for the gallery's website I'm working on (actually, I finished a very simple layout, but mom's given me some pretty dazzling ideas and I really WANT it to work out), I dug up some of my old blogs.

Yes, believe it or not, I've been around since 2001. No wait, actually earlier. I had personal websites those days, and then I roamed around pitas, and now I'm here. I'm so happy to see that pitas still keeps all the archives. I'm thinking of saving them, though... just in case. But maybe later. Anyways, I'm going to look over the fact that this might reveal to you my real name and some details of my life, and here they are for your reading pleasure (they used to be great for your seeing pleasure too, but unfortunately most of the servers I used have died so all the images are broken): Going Bananas, think of me fondly, and (not yet) insane!

I can't really remember, but I think I had several more blogs too. I was bad, I know. Kept quitting and reappearing but changing my address for some unknown reason. Nana might have a better memory of all my blogs. She's been with me through it all. And I still remember how we first met. I reviewed her site on Xanga (which wasn't such a good review). Hahaha... look how we've grown, Na!

work has, as you can see...

robbed me from the joy of joining Thursday Thirteen and Friday's Feast this week :(
and now... I'm sitting here being lazy as always. It's raining, and seriously I feel like going to sleep. Wouldn't that be lovely?? But I should get my task done before my boss asks for it, don't you think?? But I'm too lazy... I'm hoping he'll forget about it altogether. Arrgh.

Funny thing is, whenever I feel like work is getting the better of me, I'm reminded how lucky I actually am. And I'm happy for that. As always.
