Thursday Thirteen - 8th edition

I am so not going to let anything keep me from TT-ing this week. In fact, I'm up to posting a double edition to make up for last week :D

Thirteen Things That Happened on My Trip to Singapore

  1. Our flight was delayed

And only because of 4 people who just happened to arrive late because they were busy carrying some traditional cakes... thankfully, they realized that the plane was late because of them. As Singaporean say, they were very pay see (meaning: ashamed).

  2. I got acquainted with Ms. Kartika Affandi

Who is the daughter of the painter Affandi, and also her children. Of course, it only comes natural as my uncle (aka Boss) was hosting her for the book launch. I did find it very unfair that she got all the attention during our event there seeing that she only decided to come after receiving payment from my uncle. But what can I say... the perks of being someone famous' daughter, right?

  3. I learned to 'take care of things'

Like handling the check in and all the payments, also doing things I never did before like actually perusing the Business Centre at the hotel. During this particular stay, I think it is the first time we really 'utilized' the hotel staff by having so many requests. Hahah.

  4. We stayed at a very special room

Not because it was located at the Club Floor and thus we got L'Occitanne amenities, but rather because of the room number. It was room 1113. And that would be my birth date. Cool, right? I had to take a pic.

  5. I strained my ankles (yes, both of them)

I fell down on the pedestrian walkway on my way back to the hotel after a teddy bear shopping spree. It was so embarrassing (thankfully not many people were there to see it happen). And sadly it still hurts a bit until now :(

  6. I had to do a speech in front of a whole bunch of important people!

The story was, one of our writers, Prof.-Dr. Astri Wright, was unable to come to the book launch, but she sent her greetings via e-mail and I got to read it. What was really fun is, as she saluted a bunch of people in the speech, I decided to lead everyone in clapping as I read each paragraph. So I was leading all these VIPs in clapping! Hahaha. I had a good time.

  7. I got to play camerawoman too!

and take care of the lighting for the special launching event. Lots of fun. Nuff said.

  8. Of course, I got a bunch of teddies

About 20 pcs, I reckon. Most of them are Ty's, but I also got this whole series of tin toys teddies. And a very special lil fellow who is a limited edition number 3/750 from this German company (I forgot the name). As I mentioned earlier, most of them are still tucked away for my birthday present, so pics later.

  9. Also, we bought a S$1,800 violin

Thanks to the man selling who said the violin costs 'thousand eight' which we assumed was S$1,008 instead of S$1,800. Hah. My brother got very lucky of course to receive that present on top of his Givi which we had bought earlier. Anyways, I started taking violin lessons so in the future I might be using that violin too!

  10. I did NOT get to meet most of my friends

They bailed out on me last minute. Pretty sad. I managed to drop by the restaurant we used to work at though and say hi to some people (not many are left there who I know, anyways). I didn't even manage to contact the guy I used to have a huge crush on. Not that he really mattered that much.

  11. I got to speak Singlish, obviously

Yes, that actually made me somewhat happy. Again, lots of fun.

  12. I took the MRT to the airport

I love the MRT. If only they have something like this here in Jakarta.

  13. My aunt decided to give me all the leftover cash

That amounted to about S$150, and with the tax return we received, I managed to buy several teddies, a magazine and also this book I've always wanted to buy. I even brought some cash back home which is now allocated for my birthday lunch with my friends.

And speaking of my birthday... (this coming TUESDAY!!)

Thirteen Things I'd LOVE to Receive on My Birthday but Probably Won't (Unless YOU Would Like to Buy it for Me) - from amazon.com

I'm reading the teen True Images version and at 23 I think I should read this version now, you think?

  2. A Lifetime of Secrets: A PostSecret Book

When will this book be available here??

  3. Revolve 2008

    Just because.

  4. Maple the Ty Bear

    and also...

  5. Magee the Ty Bear

and a whole bunch of other Ty bears, too... or any other teddy bears, for the matter.

  6. Famous Bears and Friends

just found it randomly and seems pretty interesting.

  7. Pointe Shoes

What can I say... it's a childhood dream of mine!

  8. Canon Photo Printer

    Could definitely come in handy.

  9. That Thing You Do! DVD

I want this. I want this. I WANT THIS! It's even on my 101 Things To Do list.

  10. Godiva Chocolates

  11. The Story of Art

Saw this at the bookstore yesterday and it seems quite interesting.

  12. Messengers of Faith

Definitely a cool something to take to the Sunday School class.

  13. Amazon Gift Certificate

Who knows what else I might find? :P

The truth is I've never bought anything off Amazon before thanks to the shipment cost which is way too expensive :(

Happy TT, everyone!
